Futures-based CFDs
Reference contracts with defined terms
A futures-based CFD is priced from a dated reference contract. Contract size, margin, expiry and any rollover handling apply strictly as set out in the contract terms for that instrument.
Why trade Futures-based CFDs with DXM
Price exposure only
Your result is the price difference on the contract, not delivery of an asset.
Long or short
Open in either direction; losses grow if the market moves against you.
Margin and leverage
Margin is a deposit against exposure, not a cap on it, and applies per instrument.
Conditions where they are binding
Instrument list, sizes, spreads and hours come from your account terms and the platform.
What is it?
A futures contract references an underlying market for a specified date. A futures-based CFD takes its price from such a contract, without you entering the futures market itself.
Because the reference is dated, expiry and any rollover handling matter. Both apply exactly as set out in the contract terms for the instrument — never as a general assumption.
How it works
Check the reference
Know which underlying market and which contract the instrument follows.
Size and margin
Contract size sets your exposure; margin is the deposit held against it.
Plan around expiry
Dated instruments end. What happens at expiry, and whether any rollover applies, is defined in the contract terms.
Key concepts
Reference market
The price comes from the referenced contract, so its behaviour drives your position.
Contract size and margin
Both are instrument-specific and shown in the platform.
Expiry and rollover
Expiry dates and any rollover treatment apply only per contract terms. Do not assume a position continues automatically.
Risk warning
CFDs are leveraged instruments. Margin is a deposit, not a limit on your exposure, so losses can exceed your initial margin and in fast markets your position can close at a worse price than expected. Spreads, financing and other costs reduce your result. Prices can gap over weekends, holidays and news events, and a stop order is an instruction to close — not a guarantee of the price it fills at.

An application does not open an account. It is reviewed by our onboarding team first, and access is granted only if it is approved.
